Robert Downey Jr talks about being a Father

Terrifying! That is how Robert Downey Jr referred once on being a father.

Robert Downey Jr. is one of the most versatile and talented actors out there who manages to captivate the audience by his quirky personality and witty nature. Robert has acted in several hit movies but one role that has stuck with him over the years is the superhero Iron Man, from the renowned Avenger series.

From his troubled childhood to his battles with addiction, and his climb back to the top, this father of three has seen it all and managed to come back to become one of Hollywood’s most bankable stars.

In one of such times, he called up his dad and told him that he was hungry and he did not have a bus ticket as well to come home. Instead of reaching out to his son and rescuing him, his dad told him to get a job. In his own words Robert states:

“I couldn’t believe it. He just completely stiffed me. I thought I had this guy by some sort of guilt hook still. I thought I could at least get five bucks or something. He said, ‘Call your friends.’ I said, ‘I called them.’ He said, ‘Get a job.’ I said, ‘Dad, where am I going to get a job in enough time to get a paycheck and eat a slice of pizza?’ He said, ‘Enough.’ And you know what, I made do,” he explained. “The next phone call was to some Irish chick whose dad was out of town, and I wound up over at her place. And pretty soon I had a job. I wouldn’t wish that lesson on an enemy. But, you know, sometimes you just gotta be drop-kicked out of the nest

Robert has three kids namely Indio Falconer with his ex-wife Deborah Falconer and a boy and a girl, Exton and Avri respectively with wife Susan Levin.

Robert Downey Jr.’s first born, Indio, was once charged with felony cocaine possession. He posted $10,000 bail and his famous father commented on the situation saying,

“Unfortunately there’s a genetic component to addiction and Indio has likely inherited it. Also, there is a lot of family support and understanding, and we’re all determined to rally behind him and help him become the man he’s capable of being.”

The actor shares his view on ideal parenting where he states:

“Sometimes you just gotta be drop-kicked out of the nest,” he notes, adding, “There are some parents who have really done it right and told their kid, ‘You know, we have this dough, none of this is for you. You have to get your own.”

Can one get any cuter then this. Avri Downey above is apple of his father’s eye and rarely makes a presence on social media. Although every now and then Robert shows the world a glimpse of her.

  • He said he’s still working on being a “fit father, husband and citizen.”
  • “I had an incredible 10-year run that was creatively satisfying. It was very, very, very hard work and I dug very deep, but I have not been forced to explore the new frontier of what is my creative and personal life after this,” he said

Downey reportedly made $75 million from “Avengers: Endgame” with his $20 million salary,
